Welcome to Ascendence. First let me state that the Staff and I are very pleased to have you here. We hope you will register soon and become a member. If your already a member but your names in purple be sure to introduce yourself so we can allow you full access. Take Note of Your Member Group. Registered users have very limited access. Once you post and introduce yourself we will admit you to a Authorized group so you can post on all Forums. It takes 20 seconds to post a Hello thread. This is to weed out annoying spammers who get by our other locks. If your a "Registered" user you may only post in boards that say in their Description you may post there. In this case your limited to ONLY the community boards. "Authorized" and above member groups have full access. Registration Rules. Effective June 2010. Due to the absurd amount of spammers I get I have changed the registration format so that all users are non active until I or my staff background checks your IP and Email through our filters. Please take note that not following any of the above will not even grant you access to posting much less a account we recognize.- User name: Your registration account must be user your character name, meaning it has to be an actual name, not some random letters thrown together. Alternatively you can use your XBL gamertag or PSN tag. something we can VERIFY as an actual person. At which point we will allow limited access to you. After you make an intro post in our lounge we will open full access. NOT BEFORE.
- Email: I'm saying this once we get email notifications when you register, invalid emails come back to me I KNOW if your using a false account. also any accounts ending in obvious spam titles like .ru, .pl, .info etc are gone outright. Any obvious websites are also gone. YOU MUST have a legitimate valid email account, not one you created only to be here. Staff sends emails to members to enhance and update you on forum events. if we don't get one you don't get in. You can OPT OUT after we verify your not a spam moron.
So then lets just talk about the rules we have round here shall we? I'll start off with the basics or what we like to call the "Forum Laws" - Law 1: Practice Good RP Morality Many forums out there have a air that simply does not sit well with everyone. You get bad members and worse staff who have chips on their shoulder. Here we tend to enforce and look down on our staff and members driving away new members in fits of " obey us veterans". We like to practice good "morality" so everyone here has a voice, your free to speak it provided you don't break our language or staff respect laws. If you treat others with due respect trust me, they will return the favor. We are a community so rivalries will crop up, just don;t take them farther and remove the Rp element from them.
- Law 2: Proper Language & Grammar the first is the easiest law to follow, Don't swear profusely - and by extension aim innuendo at other users-, Don't mask your curses in different languages - a swear in Italian is still a swear-. Above all do your best to write properly. Grammar is not expected to be perfect but do try to proof read or check your spelling and punctuation. Some cursing is however allowed IF it's used in context during the Rp to provide exclamation to a characters speech. Don;t get carried away however.
- Law 3: Staff Respect The Staff is here to help you, to run the forum and provide the best time possible. All of us are committed to making your stay here relaxing, fun and enjoyable. We can't do that however if you make our jobs hard. Breaking any of these laws sets you up for punishment, something we really do not wanna have to enforce or do. Simple point is that if you show staff due respect we get to step away from our "staff" roles and enjoy the RP with you as a fellow forum member. We would much rather be staff behind the scenes then have to constantly step in and police the forum 24/7 because you can't follow the rules. Oh we know some members will need us to warn or ban em and we will handle that as needed. Still don't force our hand or argue with our decisions and we can guarantee you'll be working with us more then listening to our "admin lectures"
- Law 4: User Regulations As a member there are a few things you should know. First off there's 2 grades of membership. The first is simple "registered members" in purple text. These are the newest registrants and are locked out of almost every forum. Until they post and introduce themselves in the new members area. This is a spam filter and a way for members to start conversations. Once you post even once we open you to the "authorized users" which allows you full member benefits.
Second is the registration process, do follow it. we ask all our members to register their Rp characters in the proper section. This is standard on every major rp forum, no surprises here right? Third and finally we allow one account per user, I know some of your friends may want in but they can't have one of your double accounts. each user must have a active and valid email address, we do send staff updates via email so make sure it's not a spam account you never check.
- Law 5: Don't rip off another persons ideas Again kinda simple, we understand many of us are inspired or use another persons ideas. That's totally fine, what we don't want is someone stating that another persons idea is theirs completely when we know it's false. It simply brings down a forum, and often causes more problems when you rip off anothers artwork or story ideas. if it's material from the staff or other members here simply ask, chances are the staff will authorize it gladly.
- Law 6: Don't Break RP Etiquette This one is indeed very simple to follow. Standard etiquette rules are:
- Don't meta / Power game - meaning don't use outside knowledge to influence your Rp reactions. Just because you read head and know Tom's gonna attack your base does not mean your characters know. Power gaming is far worse meaning you explicitly break rules to make the uber character of the RP. not cool.
- Don't Flame, Bait or Troll - Each are really not gonna fly here, avoid em and spare everyone the annoyance of a admin action.
- Don't assume anything auto happens - Players must always have a chance to reply to actions, specially in combat where every attack should have some way of being avoided or blocked. Now that's not to say it needs to be obvious, creative attacks need creative defenses.
- Be creative with your RP - We do get so very bored seeing " so and so attacks" or "so and so defends" be creative, take your word limit and elaborate every detail of the event. How does your character look? What does the attack sequence look like? Be dramatic and creative in attacks and blocks,
- Special Note Character Deaths / Power Rankings- Of note is a crucial bit of rules. Many Rp's frown upon deaths of characters, and I'll admit they can get messy. This Rp however does not. That said if your character dies, you have two options, either they do "die" and are gone forever or they are simply KO and out of that given battle. In the instance of actual gone forever death, you should seek Admin consent and have all parties involved in that fight agree to it. We simply won;t allow someone to call a kill on another when they both don't agree to it. On power rankings, please note while your allowed up to 6 characters, at most 2 can be of "god or higher" levels in power see our FAQ for details on power rankings and the combat ranking system.
- Law 7: Word limit We here at the forum do try to push the limits of quality. Please help us by making long posts. Each post should be at least 2 complete paragraphs or more. We simply do not tolerate one liners here. it kills the Rp and ruins atmosphere in the given thread. Be elaborate, extensive and creative with all your posts.
- Law 8: The Staff is here to help, If you need help Please ask This one is aimed at the staff and members jointly. We understand new members can be overwhelmed, it's often hard breaking into a new Rp with a huge setting and established characters. To that end the Staff is committed to getting you started so please ask us for help.
Special Notice.-> Be aware of the following please.
- Activity Check Every two to three weeks I personally Post a thread in our Admin announcements area. ALL members must reply with what they are doing IC and what their characters are up to. Failure results in a warn to that account. Three strikes and your gone, no excuses.
- Pick a side To Increase player focus we encourage players to choose a hero or villain assignment and focus on that aspect. Don't flip flop.
- Quality checks & Post Flow Take note please that all staff scans posts, if it's bunk or not up to standards it's removed and your sent a PM explaining why. Repost and get it right. On Post Flow also take note staff will remove any posts that kill the chain. if everyone is in combat you do not bring it to a grinding halt with a backtrack for a conversation. Follow the post flow PLEASE.
So now that the rules are out of the way please enjoy your stay with us.

Thread Creation Meta Tag Info. Now that the basics are out of the way Lets just cover some basic stuff in thread tags. Here at the forum we do allow players the freedom to tag their create threads. Lets explore the official meta tags. When you create a thread Please use one by enclosing it in brackets as such "[Meta - Tag] Thread Name" - HQ Tag: The HQ Tag is to be only applied to threads where a major army or faction has it's main base. the Tag indicates to all that the thread is a home base for everyone of that faction or alliance. Thus wandering into it could imply a open conflict. Players who are new are encouraged to go to these threads first and intro their character since it's the fastest way to make contacts in the powerful world of Dark Rebellion.
- Open: The Open tag implies that this thread is open to anyone. there are no restrictions on who may post or anything that would be disrupted by a rookie or another player appearing in thread.
- Private : The private tag is useful for players who are in a special conflict or personal RP quest. This thread tag informs everyone that the threads creator has purview and can deny anyone access to his thread's events and contents. Don't abuse this however, Admin and staff has the authority to change the title if we see your hiding behind the tag to keep everyone out of your RP threads. use this for special quests and such where you have a limited group and do not want just anyone dropping by and messing up your chain of events. if players are locking the thread to a specific group of folks, They should PM any staff member with a list of who is participating.
Now that we have the simple tags out lets establish one more small detail Players are encouraged to submit new tags to the admin group if they find we need a new one to cover a special case, in general we feel these basic three are enough.
